Comcast Cable Installation Information

Greetings All,

As some of you might already know, IAPS has been in negotiations with Comcast Cable for gigabit class internet lines and the associated ipv4/ipv6 ip’s that go along with it. Those negotiations are now completed, the contracts for services have been completed and signed, and the installation date/start of service has been set for February 22, 2018.

On Saturday February 17, 2018 hardware that is currently in operation through Verizon on the east coast of the United States will be physically moved and shipped to the new Comcast Cable facility and we will terminate the Verizon contract. Under the deal signed with Comcast Cable, resources including hardware and ip addresses will be moved to the new Comcast facilities.

Although Comcast Cable will be providing us with their own exclusive ip ranges, we will be bringing a very large ipv6 ip allocation of our own also expected to be announced over the Comcast network. This move not only strengthens our U.S. core internet speeds, but it allows us flexibility to continue growing and the fact that we can request new resources on-demand regarding new ip ranges and new gigabit lines as needed.

We will also be opening the possibility for those that want private servers and their own private Comcast gigabit lines as well. We will release more information on this option in March 2018.

Affected services during this transition: Verizon operations including ipv4 and ipv6 operations. There is expected downtime from Saturday February 17, 2018 until Thursday February 22, 2018. Affected clients will be accomodated by a 10-day extention on their currently existing expiration dates.
